    Nikon's D5300

I'm not so sure the old D5200 needed such an urgent update really

    .....
And a few minutes later the seedy shadow stalking hacker types will have geo located the twitfaces and relieved them of their identities and probably their physical possessions.

    I suppose I deserved that!

I did mean the NIKON D400, not the Pentax D500.
It's almost certain that the Pentax will probably have feature advantages over a D400 .. if one ever surfaces. So the K3 is more like a D500 competitor in reality.
That could be a reason for Nikon not releasing a D400 earlier .. maybe they knew of the K3's features and just delayed its release.

I wonder if Nikon is waiting for the 7dmk2 to come out before they make their announcement.

    D5200 to D5300 seems a bit like Canon 650D > 700D ... I'm not sure why
