    Snaps from The Digital Show.

If anyone else has any shots from the show, feel free to add to this thread or start another.

The Olympus models, all a bit staid I thought.

The Fuji model, much more interesting.

What is the minimum focus distance of that lens?

Just because I like helicopters and it was there.

Those bloody angels... My friends and I were having "DON'T BLINK!" moments.

Must say I wasn't as impressed with the DIS this year as I was last time around. Hardly any booths to look at, get info from, etc.

I agree Erin, both quantity and quality were lacking on past offerings.

As a Sony shooter it always annoys me that Sony do not participate. Attended Sunday and watched an interesting presentation from Peter Eastaway. The attendance was down on the Sunday (from my memory of last one) as well although the Nikon stand seemed to have plenty of interest....john

John, you are rightly annoyed I reckon.
The absence of Sony and Panasonic, who are both making some great products, from shows such as that must rob them of some existing customer support as well as future sales to newcomers or converts from other brands.
I guess it all boils down to the bean counters and the advertising budget, setting up a stand at that venue must be a costly exercise and I feel that is one reason that exhibitors were fewer and smaller this time than in previous years.

We went in on Saturday morning.
Its the first one we have been to, those Nikon lenses where huge, I had no idea how to drive them either, jeez how many buttons can you put on a lens

I liked the ice cube and the fish tank in nikons display.
I took a shot with my phone of the fish tank.
The photo gallery was really neat to go and have a look at.

I went Sunday, what a magnificent day Melbourne put on (weather wise).

I was slightly disappointed at the booths and lack of variety. In particular the Canon display had at least 3 50mm lenses, but no 35 or 28mm in sight. They told me to try Michael's in the city >.<

Spent most of the time just studying the on display and competition photos. Not sure if it was a brief thing, rules or the paper they were printed on, but we were not overly impressed with most of the comp entries, as they all seemed to be more "art" then Photos.. as in they were all very processed and stylised, almost to the point that a lot were hard to tell if they were indeed photos, and not paintings or drawings... again it might have been part of the brief.

I also found that the pricing was a little "off" in that the show discounts seemed more expensive then the pricing I've seen elsewhere. (mainly thinking on the flash units I was wanting to check out)

All in all though it was nice to go out with a friend and do something with someone that has the same interest in the subject I could see myself going with the wife and her constantly asking if we had seen enough yet :P

I think the biggest issue for Sony and Panasonic is that SMTPE Show was on in sydney only a month or so before the digital show. But then so was canon i guess.

    Drive is an apt description.

    Awsome
The couple I took with my phone didnt really turn out very well.
The fish tank one turned out pretty nice though.
I should have tweaked it first before putting it up lol, its straight from the phone.

I thought about taking my camera and thought id stick out like a sore thumb, there were hundreds of cameras walking around haha
