Technical - site performance - caching

Warning: Technical content - possibly of interest to people with their own servers

We have changed the site server caching all over to Xcache.
Previously we used a combination of EAccelerator and memcached.

We are opcode caching the compiled PHP code and data caching a lot of static vBulletin data in a shared memory pool.
Our monitoring indicates a small performance improvement over the old method.

Here is a summary of performance since last night. (Lots of hits/s is good - each one is a disk/sql access saved)

i never ever stop appreciating the efforts that go on behind the scenes to keep this site active, alive and best of all free ( mind you i would happily pay to be a member ) but i started reading this post and it went from "We are opcode - then @#$$$#@ &&*^%765 ())*77^% *&^% blah thing stuff. I am so glad there are smarter people out there than me, or we would all be sitting under a tree eating bison cooked on a stick and living in a cave, but i would cook one hell of a good bison, thanks team behind the scenes.

Well something is amiss.... Does this have anything to do with the site problems?

No, the site issues today are unrelated to the way we cache stuff.

Confirmed, our hosting provider found the issue (another VM on the cluster was bunta). Our cache setup is fine
