    double posts! [update Fri 4/Jul/2014]

We appear to have an issue with double posting at present. Basically the site appears to hang while you submit your post and then the actual post duplicates. The site server is running as per usual and we think this is a connection relay issue between members computer and the site server in California. Whereby the link between the two is causing the outage and the double post. At the server end, nothing has changed and the server is running optimally.

We apologise for these double-post issues, but they are outside our control as a network connection issue on the internet, rather than a server issue that we could fix.

Thanks for that info Rick. It happened to me this evening. Site took a while to connect, then a message popped up in FF asking if I wanted to leave the page. After clicking yes the page came back with the post and an 'update' with the same post. Took a chance and edited the post to remove the double entry....hoping that I wouldn't end up with a triple post ....Ummm...I didn't.
This is the first time it has happened to me for a while now.
    Thanks again.

Yes late last night was interesting, if I clicked on the Latest Members Photos I got this white page message I forget the actual wording.
And had to go into the Forums to open them up, though had no problems these..

Next time I'll try that, although doing that in the past has resulted in the double post. Thanks, Kym.

It's happening again. I had an email from a thread yesterday which had the same comment 4 times in the one post. Sometimes I click "Post Quick Reply" then have to wait 10 or more seconds for it to respond. Then a window will show saying "Leave This Page or continue" Then end up with a double post.
It's been happening for a few weeks now.

    Geoff.

I've been having this problem on and off for the last few weeks. It generally just takes me back to the page and says I can't post again because it's been too soon etc etc.

It is a network congestion issue as far as I can tell and the Javascript gets its knickers in a knot (technical terminology).

I usually just wait a few minutes and it eventually fixes itself - patience is a virtue.

If you get the Leave page message, just refresh the whole page and it should be ok. (You will need to Ok the Leave page message when you refresh)

I've made a site change to mitigate the issue.
I've turned off the double post module that was sensitive to network issues and left a 15 seconds flood control setting on; i.e. everyone must wait 15 seconds between posts.

FYI The double post module merged posts by the same person within 60 minutes as long as there was not an intervening post from someone else.

I hope that tecno babble makes sense.
