    I don't have a 5d so I don't have first hand experience with this, but I thought the 5d mk3 could easily handle as high as 6400 or even 12800 ISO without noise? Anyone know if this is correct?

    "Without noise", no. Still good quality at 6400? Usually. It depends on the sale of stuff your shooting, having said that there is always more noise visible at 6400 than say at 400. 12800 and above is for grabbing that shot that you'd otherwise miss.

    I'm not dissing the 5d3, its bloody good and you can certainly push the ISO A LOT higher than other bodies and get the same results.

    I'd have another in a heartbeat.

    Here's an example , 5D MKIII ,5.23am , Very , Very dark , ISO 6400,f4 ,1/3 sec exposure, 17-40L @ 24m

    PS : Exif intact

    Im with Dylan re the issue with the edges esp with 17-40
    very soft edges..

    if shooting a panoramic and stitching.... stitching frames shot at around 40-50 mm is ideal anyway.
