Newbie question, Rule of thirds

I am looking at the landscape tips and the pics with the 3rd rule and the water fall with the palms
Could you explain that pic please , isn't the waterfall the centre focus point
MY camera has grid I and grid 11
Is this where I do the setting for the grid of thirds on the view finder please

Some newer models do allow you to choose a grid displaying the rule of thirds, but most photographers just use their eye to determine where to place their subject. The rule of thirds isw just a "tic-tac-toe" (naughts and crosses) grid. Each of the intersecting points is a power point and each of the lines is a third line.

I too just use my eye for the rule of thirds.... it really is just about balance and harmony in your photograph.

Use the rule of thirds as a good guide , Sometimes rules are meant to be broken, I always eye it with the thirds rule in mind , Dont even think about it now , Here's a couple of examples where in the first you can break the rule , The second was using rule of thirds , Hope this helps you
