    B&H drops $200 off the DP1 & DP2 Merrill

Just in case you were eyeing off the Sigma DP1 & DP2 Merrill bodies

now $799 from B&H for a camera some people consider to have the best image quality of anything currently available under $2500 .
(if you can live with it's many foibles)

I look at the DP Merrill series with great interest.
If prices keep falling, it'd be a great entry point to try out the Fovean sensor.
The detail levels seem amazing but a lot of the colour and saturation levels worries me.
In the linked blog above, there's a strong magenta cast to my eye in all the DP3 Merrill images and the colours are just not as pleasing as the X100s results. Maybe its a RAW converter issue?

With all due respect mate --- I think that comparison is worth all the gold leaf it is wrapped in.
    In another word ---ZILCH.
Any one that wants to pixel peep unequally sized images needs a trip to a pyschs couch. I think a realistic sized comparison might be rather telling, and that is both images would be acceptable.
I think that the main reason that the Sigma is under going price reductions starts with a capital F that belongs to Fuji.
For only a small amount of $ more than the Sigma you can have sterling image quality and all sorts of gadgets like a viewfinder.

Could be right Andrew, Fuji are certainly making waves with some quality gear.

Andrew, such hyperbole to make a point!
Gold leaf AND psychs' couches! Oh, well, assertiveness there is, but can you re-"couch"
it in less forceful terms? There is EXIF data and the statement says 100% crops.
