Trying to use Flickr to show photos

I'm trying to use Flickr for the first time in order to help cut down on site bandwidth, as asked. However, for some reason I'm obviously too thick to either find the FAQ that guides me step-by-step, or can't work it out in the 'post thread menu'... Flickr doesn't seem to give a link that ends in jpg... Any advice, or is Flickr a no-no for this?

Any advice gratefully received - sorry if I've missed an obvious solution, but I'm baffled...

Aha - that has, of course, immediately given me a link where the question has 'Flickr' in it... I shall investigate.

on the flickr photo page go to 'share' and select 'grab the html bb code', right click the code and select copy

the code will look like this:

paste it into your post and select this bit:

copy it and delete the rest.

click the insert image button at the top of your post (pic of a tree), in the box that appears select 'from url', right click and paste and your pic is now in your post:

Hakka. do not use the HTML code from Flickr, use the BB code option and just copy and paste the whole lot into your AP thread. Your method adds extra steps not needed.

Lincoln, it's photos such as the one you have posted above that make me interested in the exif info. Yours has it attached but so many people that post photos from Flickr don't. You have to click on their photo and visit the Flickr post to see it. Is there a reason (or setting ) for this?
Just thinking about using Flickr and like my exif to be easily available to others.

I think its to do with the size you choose from the share menu on flickr, that pic is the original size, i've heard that other sizes will remove the exif info.

If You Upload To Flickr At 1000 Pixels On Longest Side With EXIF Attached And Then When You Link It To AP You Choose That Same Size, The EXIF Will Be Included. But If You Upload To Flickr At 3000 And Then Choose Large At 1024 Pixels For Example, EXIF Is Mot Included. Only The Original Size From Flickr Includes EXIF. Any Other Chosen Size Does Not.

Unless it has recently changed, it's not actually the same size image that you need to link to, but the "Original" image that you need to link to. Flickr will create at least one copy of the image that is the same size as the original, but the copy won't contain the exif. If you don't have a Flickr "pro" account (~$25 pa) you can't access your own original image.

For example, this image has three versions all the same size ("Original", "Large 1024" and "Medium 800"), but only linking to the "Original" will allow direct viewing of the exif details from within AP.

If you link to Flickr correctly (as per Rick's link in post #3) using any version of the image, viewers can click the image on AP which will take them through to Flickr where they can view the exif details on the Flickr page (if exif was included in the original file uploaded to Flickr). To allow this click-thru you need to make the image on Flickr "visible to everyone".

None of this is intuitive so let us know if you are still having problems...

Lincoln has linked to the original image, so I assume he must have a "pro" account. Had he linked (in the same manner) to one of Flickr's copies of the image you would not be able to view the exif from within AP (and also don't have the option of clicking through to Flickr if you want to).
