Video CC forum! Do we want one?

As the proliferation of DSLR, compacts, GoPro and phone cameras grows and the level of editing available for these videos also increases, do we want a Video Constructive Critique forum?

Note that I will not be hosting your videos on the AP server, you will need to host them elsewhere (youtube/vimeo, etc) and link them into AP.

Do you think a video CC forum on AP would be beneficial?

Gravy - don't do much video, but its no drama to implement

This could raise the old chestnut of why don't we have a film CC forum - answer: still images are all still images and we group by genre.

I don't care either although I was tending towards to No option. I cannot imagine I will sit through vids posted on here as my interest is in stills. That is me though, others will have different view points.

First of all I would like to say thank you to all of their time the moderators put into running & maintaining this well put together site especially you Rick. Regards videos not that into it myself but understand others who are or are starting to whether time laps or normal video. I know space & band width is always a situation so perhaps those who are interested in this area could put forward suggestions regarding possible restrictions that would meet their requirements but without infringing in other areas to much EG, length of clip.

I think it would have its place. Video is a feature of many still cameras anyway.
I can imagine it also having some sub-sections, maybe loosely based on genre - like nature, fashion, ??, ?? else.
The organisation may have to be restricted to the likes of links to "Ewe-choob", so as to not take up too much server space.
But then how would you guarantee non-piracy of work, like you do in the CC sections of AP?
    A(Just wondering?)m.
    CC, Image editing OK.

I have no objections but would not be browsing any video forum due to the limited allowance (4Gb) on my satellite connection. I have had my 7D for over 3 years and have never used the video feature.

I'd welcome a video section as I have seen what I consider some excellent videos from links already posted here. Many times the links have been posted within another thread and are easily missed. If a video CC section is implemented, will there be guidelines on how to CC a video as I'd have no idea?

The forum would only be for video taken by AP members. Many of the linked ones are links to work by other people. Just as all the other CC forums require the member posting them to be the copyright owner, so it would be for any videos posted into this new forum, if we implement it.

CC for video, I too have no idea re the technical, but basically CC is constructive feedback, so I cannot see a need for a separate set of guidelines. Members should be able to post CC on video just the same as they do now on a still photo. After all an out of focus video has the same issue as an out of focus photo.

I think it will have it's place here, considering how many of us like to compile our images into a video or time-lapse etc. I'm all for it and am constantly looking for ways to branch out in other image related aspects of the medium.

Hi Allie, I think the CC would be very much similar to photographic images in the respect - you know what you like to watch/see in regards to the technical aspects maybe not so much for some but any opinions re: frame rate - slow mo; jerkiness, panning, zooming etc can be put forward as I'm sure all cc is taken on board by all users on this site as valuable information in one way or another.

We are about stills, and the way a still can be made to invoke a response, and tell a story. Sure, have a video section, but people learning to film maybe better served by forums that focus on video, rather than stills.
    CC allways appreciated!

I would not be interested in a Video Forum. If Members choose to add short ones to their Landscape, Weddings and Plants Forum thats fine
To me thats enough as there are plenty of Forums on here now to look at and reply too.

Not interested myself but understand that others may be. As long as the new forum dosen't affect the rest of the site.
