    FakeOrFoto?

Autodesk have brought out another of their challenges.

View the images and then below the main images, decide which ones are real photos and which ones are computer generated (CG).

Post your result % in this thread. I got 59% right

Wow how good is this I did slightly better but not much I scored 67%. It just goes to show how good CGI's are getting with ray tracing and vector graphics improving all of the time it is getting really hard to tell the difference. Kind Regards, Livio

75% here. I guess my background in IT and graphics helped a little. I actually erred on the CG side in the majority of those I missed, too!

    [top]Your Results

Excellent - you have a good eye!
    75%

They all looked like photos to me - I only picked a few as not and that was because they seemed like the most easy to fake!
    Been here, not done that.

Well I got 4/12. The only one I was pretty sure was CGI was the laneway one (but it was a photo ), the rest were pretty much complete toss-ups and could have all been photos as far as I could tell. I looked for small things that I didn't think would appear in a CGI image - obviously not the right approach. I had a few goes just picking randomly and got 67% on two occasions and 50% on the other.

What would really be of interest here is not so much viewers individual scores but rather whether there were any particular CGI images that few people thought were photos.

Certainly some great CGI work there...

    Cheers.

67% here, some are very well done, and some where quite easy to pick as CGI still.

    50% for me...

I really thought the annoying bright out of focus area in the background in one of the images would have been real and I looked for images with clean lines and detail. Why would you want something distracting in a clean computer generated image, but I was wrong.

To produce these images, I guess that they are all based on an original photograph as a starting reference point ??

How many photos (images) entered into competitions now and into the future won't be real life ???

84% here, 10 / 12.... must admit quite a few where guesses.... i looked at the shadow areas for the most part to see if it was uniform across the image.
