    One Click,

I would change the switch position as it reduces the sensitivity of the manual focus ring.

On the shots above, as SOOC, they look OK. They do look a little soft (so note the comments above about focus modes) but I don't have a great monitor at the office, so have a close look your self. From my own experience, you should be able to resolve a great amount of detail at 100% crop.

    a) This is poor advice "Try pre focusing on a spot where you want to shoot the subject, lock that focus and wait for the subject to reach that spot then firing the shutter release" - ONLY do this if the subject is too fast to autofocus on. This rarely means people.
    b) don't shoot at 2.8, shoot at 3.5 assuming the light is OK, there will be little difference in background OOF and will give you more latitude
    c) make sure you are using af-c (continuous, not auto or servo)
    d) make sure YOU select the focus point, so, choose single point focus OR 9 pt dynamic and make sure you try to land the focus point on the face of the rider/runner
    e) leave lens on A/m
    f) turn OFF VR
    g) leave on focus range infinity on the lens switch
    h) make sure your shutter speed is AT LEAST 1/500s (assuming you are not panning), at f/3.5 use ISO to create the "correct" exposure (in aperture priority)
    i) IF panning, try 1/100s, change the aperture to f/8 or whatever

    Hope that helps

Hi, finally got back here, it's been a hectic week.

Yes very difficult to keep one focus point with riders and also runners and swimmer because they don't pass you at the same point or same speed.

Okay going to post two photos in original state and edited for some, cc please. I had varying results with the lens some shots were exactly as I wanted blurred background with subject dominate and others went from everything in focus to blurred subject and in focus background even though setting were not changed.

No sharpening as I only have PS elements 5 and struggle with the sharpening with this. It always comes out very grainy.Would be happy if someone was to try sharpening on these to show me what can be done.

Well thanks, I wasn't aware of that.

This is a follow on from all previous posts here, re my hiring of the lens, will have to re post elsewhere I guess.

Posted here as I thought those who had kindly been giving me assistance and advice on the lens would be interested to see some of the results.

To reiterate what a previous member has posted, you must turn off VR on your lens to get a good panning blur.
