    Happy 99th Birthday!

My Oma (Grandma) turned 99 today!! She is a total inspiration to me and my family. Two years ago my Opa (Grandpa) died and Oma still lives in the house, by herself. The only ailments that she has is arthritis and blind in one eye.

If I am only 1/2 of what she is, I am a happy woman. Oma has seen alot of anguish, as most her age, but her beautiful soul just pours out of her and there is not one bit of bitterness.

We have a chuckle about the silly little things she is doing, but as she says, she is 99 and she is allowed to!! So true!

    Happy Birthday, Oma!

Happy birthday to your Oma. How lucky are you to have someone who has seen so much, and had so much life experience. I know you treasure her, and hope someone is recording her family stories while she is able to recall them (yes, I am a Family Historian)
Ihope she enjoyed her day with her family.

that`s great Monika. Life is a fleeting moment and the older you get the quicker it goes. Good to see she is happy and healthy too. Nice kids BTW.

    Thanks everyone!

She is amazing. I'll be posting another photo, in a years time, of her turning 100! In the meantime, we do have to get some stories on paper/video/recording of her life. I have already heard heaps, some good, some bad (she is an Austrian!) and love to hear her talk about her life. Unfort my Opa left this world with a lot of stories untold due to the pain of remembering. Even Oma didn't know 1/2 of what his life was before she met him (he was her second husband and they met during the war).

(Graeme, they are nice kids but I am biased! LOL No, they adore their Great Grandmother!)

No, Mary Anne. It has hit us badly. We all know she probably won't return home.
