Finally some rain - but maybe oo much

Finally some rain forecast for next week for Northern Rivers. But 400mm sounds a bit damp. It looks like that for most of the Queensland coast too.

100+mm here overnight. Looks like it has settled in for a few days. Should be some good photo opportunities later today. Might go park near a well known flood spot and wait for the tourists to drive across.

Rain will be fine as we need it, but 400mm is a hell of a lot. As long as nobody gets flooded out or injured is the main thing

I'll swap a couple of days of your wet for a couple of our dry, as long as you take our temperatures as well. It's been so hot and dry this summer, most crops are maturing a month earlier than usual and many farmers are already running out of the water we thought would last another couple of seasons.

Looking forward to it! The water tank is down to knee height. The creek is down to a couple of water holes. The grass is brown and crispy. Send it down please!

120mm yesterday and another 175mm since 9am this morning. I won't have to water the yard for a couple of weeks.

Well, we've already had our 400mm now, but looks like the rain will be even heavier today. Getting windy too. Could have been worse if that cyclone had reformed over water I suppose. Lots of rain headed your way if you're in the southeast corner.

Had over 550mm here. More in Gladstone from what I can tell. Lots of trees down around the place. The rain saturates the ground, and then a little puff of wind blows them over. Phones and internet went out as cables got washed away. Some folks been without power for over 24 hours. The crews can't get in to fix anything. Would have been worse it it had come down the coast instead of inland.

There have been reports of up to 800mm from small towns south west of here. That's a LOT of water.

I'm hoping it does'nt cross the Coast !! If it does and intensifies over the water we're in trouble , It's still under 1000 ,

PS : Water temp today is 26 degs , That'll pick it up a tad if it crosses the coast over water

It's been pretty stationary west of Rockhampton for the past 24 hours. Just heard on the radio that a little hamlet south of Mt Morgan has a three-day total of 1100mm. There's not much rain around my area, or Rocky now. Being cyclonic in nature, the wind is clockwise and most rain is south of the centre. There's bugger all wind here, but Bundaberg has been copping it. There was a big shiny thing in the sky a few minutes ago. I suppose we'll be back the high 30's again soon enough, and humidity in 70% range with all this water about. Prefer the rain myself.

Sticky as! 92% in Yeppoon. No separate figures for my area. Take your pick of these two. Figures for Yeppoon from 1995 only though. Figures for Rocky from 1940. Given the biggest flood in the place's recorded history was in 1918, these records might be a little low. Doesn't stop the media trumpeting records though, does it? The cliched "mini tornado" is doing the rounds again.

Love the rain. Not keen on the breeze though.

We've certainly had enough in Gladstone. Thought it was clearing last night but still it comes and extremely windy. Wish we could package it up now and send it on to where people need it more.

hey, I'd take the rain anyday, and not the waterspout/tornadoes that have hit the bundaberg area today... 5 in total now, tomorrow there is a VERY real chance of the same on out coast, if you're going out, please stay safe!

Heaps of wind and rain on the Sunshine Coast for the last day and even worse this morning, it is very wild at our place at the moment, really hoping it passes soon.

    This is pretty hypnotic
