Lens as a Coffee Mug - Novelty item

just had to share this. clicked through a few links (as you do to get totally distracted) while looking up something else and came across this little beauty!

looks awesome and would make a good gift for the photography nerds among us. Wasn't sure if i could paste link to location because of advertising rules but a bit of google should find it.

CM, please feel free to post a link to the items.

I did have to edit your post to remove the images which you don't own copyright to though.

Yes, they have been around for some years. However, DP Review has not bothered to do a review on them yet (AFAIK).
One question that I am wondering about is what depth of coffee can you get at the different f-stops using this mug.
And, is there are sweet spot for it, or do you have to manually add sugar?

    It makes you wonder:
So a lens turns to crockery, then say an actor turns to craft?

Gees guys, if you are REAL coffee aficionados, you would simply walk into that store in Sydney that sells over priced camera gear as well as those "mugs" and pick up a proper NIKON mug.

I think the best use for these mugs (particularly the high quality, realistic ones) is to keep it in you camera bag along with real lens's. Then at your next photo get together, whilst everyone is setting up, say to a friend "Hey, check out my new lens" and casually toss it through the air to them....

    Cost of Mug - $19.95
Look of horror on friends face - Priceless!

    Cheers

I have three lens mugs. One of them is a Canon EF 25-105mm f/4L IS USM and the other is a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM. I was given a third lens mug last Christmas, which is in my home office.

Unfortunately the lens mugs aren't available in f/2.8, which is a bit annoying when I am particularly thirsty.

Two of the mugs are on my desk at work.

One day a former colleague came over, saw the 24-105 mug and thought it was a lens, so I picked it up and proceeded to hand it to him, but did so such that he'd drop it. :-)

It sounds like the Sony lens mug is a very convincing replica!
