    change to the site: 'Keywords'

Just to let everyone know, we have done a change to the site that allows auto-linking of keywords.

So if you are typing a post and say put in something like.

I just purchased a new Pentax from eglobal, and I am going to get some prints done by filmstreet later today

It will auto link selected words so other members can click the link and go to the relevant site

IE; you do not have to add the URL website link to the words.

The linking for the word eglobal and filmstreet happen auto-magically. We have added all the site advertisers to the list, so anyone can click through to an advertiser directly from a thread at any time.

    eg:

    filmstreet
    adorama
    cheapchips

If you have any suggestions for particular words that we could link to either specific websites, or articles/tutorials on AP. Please feel free to provide details in this thread. We may or may not take your suggestions up.

This is a great idea. Not only for beginners but also us 'oldies' who have faulty memories and may need to brush up on something that has 'leaked out'!

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback on this one. I originally thought this concept would be a good way to help our site advertises get a bit more exposure. By having the keywords set so that if a member typed eglobal, or cameracheckpoint, cheapchips, filmstreet, or zazz, etc it would help others easily find the advertisers site as it would be automatically linked to the word.

However, the benefits of being able to link specific camera/processing terminology to specific articles right here on Ausphotography was an added bonus of the original idea and it does work very well. Being able to instantly link to things like ISO, shutter speed, etc is really helpful, especially to our members who are just starting out in photography.

I am pleased that this new site feature is proving to be both helpful and popular.

At least you don't get the bubble come up full of advertising like some sites do. It's a real turn off.

NOW...... How about bringing back the old smilies. I realy miss the old

I know that Kym. But it's not the same. When giving good CC, I like to give them the thumbs up, or other smilie. But couldn't be bothered opening the window and scrolling down amoungst the hundreds of smilies just for 1 - 2.
The new ones you have on the right, just don't cut the mustard. Many irrelevant to the feeling I wish to convey.

Another added benefit of this is that if you spell one of the words in the "link" list incorrectly, then it won't highlight, so you will then realise you have spelt it wrong.

We already have a word fixer, eg: type lense into a post (I made the training e italic to force the display)

Well, I spent a good few days trying out the new keywords, ie, trying to get used to them and not just go off an initial reaction.

I am sad to report "failure". Now it's not the idea of the new keywords as such but only something as minor as their COLOUR.

It has this effect on me: I find I want to click on them thinking that they are an "interesting link" that someone has posted.

Instead, - and after a few inadvertent strayings into the likes of basic definitions (lens, f-stop, and such) - I have to backtrack to the original thread.

So, if I may make a small suggestion, would you please consider a colour change to something else for THAT type of keyword (say, this), leaving the current green
    tinge for "our" embedded links.

Ta for the basically good idea, and apologies for picking nits, Am.
    CC, Image editing OK.
