    Voting bar position

    Hi Rick/Mods.
I have just voted on the 114 pictures for 2012
The trouble was I have had to use the mouse pad on my laptop as I’m away on holidays. Having the voting panel on the left side of the photos and the scroll bar on the right side made for hard work. Ever considered putting the voting bar over to the right side next to the scroll bar? It would making voting much easier and faster both with a mouse and mouse pad.

That is related to your screen size and not the site.

Use CTRL and + or CRTL and - in your browser, to resize any webpage to fit. Note CTRL and 0 resets to normal.

Or the voting below/above each entry might also help

we considered that, but the issue is people being easily confused as to whether they are voting on the photo below or above the voting bar, so placing it beside it alleviated the confusion that it may have caused.

What about the between the image and the title? The other day I went all through the voting only to find I had missed one. I went through all the voting twice. Then found the one I had missed was a smaller entry, and tucked between two bigger ones.

    Just a thought ?????

Certainly happy to hear ideas, I just wonder if we are changing this though for a good enough reason. I don't believe there is a perfect position for it, and no matter where we put it, it will not suit some. So my personal thought it to leave it alone/leave it where it is.

Just hit the space bar (largest key on bottom row of keyboard), it will auto scroll to the next part of anything you're looking at. Then (if your mouse doesn't have a roller) use arrow up or down for further smaller adjustments. (hope that makes sense)

I agree with Rick, on the LHS was the original design so it would not be missed, on the RHS would be worse due to variability of images sizes.

We always consider ideas, but in this case it works well.

I've be toying with an optional alternate voting approach, which is slower but better for low bandwith users.
The idea would be to display one image at a time, with next/previous button, it would remember where you were up to etc.
This would need more clicks, but might be easier for some.

On that basis we would still be doing comps manually
