Which Lowpro Flipside

Hi all

I am new to photography, trying to decide to by a Lowpro Flip side or similar

200
300
or
400
or similar

Use a 7D , Tamron 17 to 50, Canon 100 - 400. also have a 70 - 250 Tamron
plus few leads filters adapters as required

Need to consider size and weight when checking in for air travel and having carry on, so usualy leave
the 70 to 250 at home
I have read lots of reviews. Still wondering. Any users of above out their able to assist in choice.

Hi Spyke,
I have the 200 and used it for a trip to China recently. I could fit a D7000, 28-300 on camera, 10-24mm and 50 1.4. Plus a lightweigth tripod on the outside. I bought mainly for security concerns. Theives can't unzip the outside pocket, cause there isn't one.
I found it great of changing lenses, with the waist strap on you can swing it around your waiste and it sits nicely out front to change lenses. This worked better without the tripod attached.
The weight was fine for all day walking around.
I also like the option of having the camera in a separate case with lens and over shoulder strap and then just have lenses and a flash in the bag.
Great bag in my view.

thanks for the info,as short of hearing from you out there what works best, is that I take gear to a shop. Pack it a bag a see what it looks like. I do like the security aspect of the bags. Also planing on getting a sling for camera as well. I must say I would also like to get the 400 but then it would get filled up. Some air carriers in Australia get a bit twitchy when carry on weighs more than 7 kgs

Just for you to compare I have the flipside 300 and my son has the 200, we both have 70-200 lenses attached and one tamron 17-50 and a sigma 17-70 in each bag. Also a flash unit each. the 300 also allows my to carry a point and shoot and few other things but the 200 would be my choice for travelling.

The top pic is the 200 and bottom is the 300, hope this helps.

I have a lowepro pro runner 450 aw that can hold all my gear, can't hardly lift the thing loaded but it all fits. I want to start mountain biking to spots to take wildlife photos so I just bought a vanguard quovio 44. I can fit one of my Gripped 500Ds with a sigma 50 - 500 with the hood on the right way down the centre and all the odds around the sides and its pretty comfortable.

I guess you dont get the security of the flipside if thats what your after. But there isnt alot of compact bags where you can fit a body with a big lens attached.

Hi i have a Lowepro flipside 200 and a 7d and it carries my camerabody with 15-85mm attached , my 70-300 and my 50mm comfortably.
However I note you said you have the 100-400 I have one of those in my posession at the moment and it is a struggle to get it in the flipside 200....it is very wide....I can fit it in just with my 15-85mm squished in......no other gear will fit with the 100-400 in!
Personally I would go the larger sizes....I have my eye on the flipside 400. Hope this helps you to.

I have the 300 and don't find it too big to travel. I use it to carry a 7D with a 70-200, 50mm, 17-55, 10-22 plus the other bits like external flash, spare batteries etc. For a while I also had a monopod attached to the back of it. The only frustration is I can't leave any of the lenses other than the 70-200 attached because I can't fit them in but that would probably be a problem with all bags. I agree with the theory of going for the bigger size, most of the weight comes from the contents and the bigger bag gives you the option to carry some extra personal items

I have the flipside 400 and just love it. Have had it kitted for about 2 yrs now and still very happy with it.
I carry every day:

IN THE BAG
1 x Canon 50D with grip
2 x Speedlite flashes
1 x 24-105 L
1 x EF-s 10-22 UWA
1 x 70-200 F/4 L
4 x small flash remotes
set of 4 Grad filters
1 x 50D battery charger

IN THE EXTERNAL POUCH
set of 3 plastic flash defusors
1 x remote timer controller
a handful of usb sticks

and still room in the front pouch

It is still a very comfortable bag to carry fully packed and I have never been queried with it as carry on - touch wood.
