    Sold some work today

    Weird,

What is it that people see in some images, that I would have considered close to a stock image.

I was approached by a company to get two of my pictures, one of the Perth Skyline, and one from the ranges behind where I work. (Both on my Flickr site, so I wont re-post pictures)

They are a local Perth based company - with strong links to the Mining and Infrastructure industry.

Any way, nice to see some people are trolling through my photos, and nice to sell a couple.

If your keen to see which ones.

Congrats both are great pics. With the strong links to mining lets just hope they are not for before and after shots.

Just my 2c worth, I know another photographer in WA that is based in Perth and was working in the mining industry and was getting into the motorsport photography and was turning pro and someone purchased a couple of his photos from his flickr / zenfolio account and over the past 6 months, this person took him for a ride financially. The individual was also pretending to be starting up a tv series and magazine and was going to be going all over the world.

So, if this is the case, take care and dont get caught. I'm not sure exactly how much money is out of pocket, but it wasnt cheap. Anyway, this photographer was caught unawares and has lost all confidence in himself and no longer trusts anyone.

    A hard lesson.

If these are genuine sales, congrats, if not, take care.

    Regards,
    Craig

    Thanks all,

I cleaned up the Lightning shot quite a bit, as the image on flicKr isn't the best.

Cheers for the heads up Craig (horizon) never good when you hear/read stories like that.

Congratulations, both good images and the skyline one is a cracher, IMHO.

wow! great work! aside from the two photos you mentioned, there are also equally outstanding photos in your flicker account. i think that is only the start of a promising venture.

Out of interest, how was he taken for a ride? Surely the worst they could do is not pay? Some more details might help make sure others can avoid a scam if things start sounding fishy.

    Cheers,

Great news Roosta. It really does feel good to be recognised for your efforts, and it is well deserved.

Cheers Shane, you'll need to update your location too mate. NOR - SOR ? There are quite a few of us that live both, we need to have another get together whilst the weather is still good.
