    Panoramio

I have just found, through Google Maps, a site called Panoramio. It has maps AND photos to help show what the area looks like. This has helped me chose a spot to go to tonight - Myponga Beach. You can upload your own images to add to their photos and put them on the maps as well.

    Pretty cool, huh??

Hmm, yes I've used this before too - but most of the places it suggests in Bridgetown (or around) I've shot! Now I just have to concentrate more on capturing certain light.

Nice site. Funny thing is that I'm not registered with it. Yet it has one of my images on it.

Adam, I've never seen this! If you go out of WA, it may be good for you!

Geoff, are you kidding? One of your pics? Wow! Did you put on of your pics to a map maybe, and it has picked it up that way? At the bottom of the pic it says the photographers name and in smaller writing the source.

Ms Monny. I did put the image on Google maps. (After working out how it would have got there.) Goes to show just how careful one must be loading images to a site.

I have a few of my shots on Panoramio. I put them there when it was quite new, and haven't really used it since, but hadn't really though about it for scoping out places to photograph for myself, more for putting up images to advertise some of my favourite, but lesser-known places, so that others might find out about them.

I was going to start a thread about this site but the search came up with it already started...lol. I see that it's an old thread and well hidden, I was wondering where to post it. As a snap happy traveler I was thrilled when Google selected several of my pic's to use in maps & earth. The link below is of a pic taken with my first digital, (Ricoh) compact. Almost 8000 views, not bad considering the remote location.

Read the T&C's properly before uploading your images.

panoramio has been around for a while now, and I remember when looking into it back then, the T&Cs seemed to indicate that any images uploaded can be used by Panoramio as they please.
    (basically they own the images).

Of course I declined this 'generous offer'

That was a few years ago now(maybe 4 or so, as it was about the time I first connected my GPS to my camera .. just can't remember exactly)
They may have changed in the intervening years tho .. so be sure you know what you're getting into before you upload.
