Question "Thank you for this useful post" as CC

Often (mostly) I really enjoy the photos posted in the CC forums, however, often (mostly) I'm not sure what to say to the OP.
"I really enjoyed that series of photos" hardly seems like CC. Yeh, "I really like that photo because ......" is what some will tell me. But what if I really enjoyed that photo and I'm not sure why. Or maybe I really enjoyed that photo because it was just bloody good and the OP probably already knows why (hello Dylan, Richard and others).
Now if I have something constructive to offer or if there is an obvious (to me) reason that I find a photo enjoyable, then comment is made.
In other cases, do people think it acceptable to simply click on "Thank you for this useful post" so that the OP knows that at least some enjoyed their photo? Is this better than no comment at all? Should people do this more often?

I use them. I click them if I think what the person said is valuable in context with the thread. I tend not to use them in them in CC forums unless it is my thread and my photo, and I like to thank those who provide me with CC without filling the thread with repeated thanks. I then will often post a thank you to everyone, in one go.

Mark, I like to send and receive the " thankyou for this useful post" message. Even if there is no other comment at least you know the sender has looked at your CC and when I receice CC on a photo I feel its somehow just polite to acknowlege it.

Yes, and also when someone has already said similar to what I had thought, and repeating it seems unnecessary.
Constructive critique of my photos is welcome and appreciated.

I think the wording of this button makes it awkward when you want to say 'hey, I liked the image but can't really CC it for you'. Thanking them for a 'useful' post doesn't seem right.....how was it useful??

Yes, thanking for a useful post to people who have CC'd your image or that you thought they had a good comment to make on other people's threads makes sense. Maybe another button that says "Like the image, no CC from me"????

We have the option of creating more 'Thanks/Likes' options.

But we did not want to just go down the 'Likes/+1' path because that can limit comments.
    Ditto unlike/unthanks.

So if another option would help the CC forums we are open to discussing it.

That is true, Kym! Many would then take the easy option and not write anything. Hitting 'like' just for the sake of hitting and making themselves feel good....like FB!!!

I think some sort of "I like but but have no CC" type button would be great. Just coming back to AP after a time away. As someone still very much on the learning track, but gaining a bit more experience than when I 1st joined, what I found really frustrating was to post and have 50+ views but no comment. This would have me walking away thinking
"Well is it c**p but people just don't like to say?? Is it ok and there is no cc to improve?? Is it just boring and nothing either way??"
So to know someone at least did like it or felt I had got it right would definately help me personally

The other option is that we take them all away..and make you actually type a comment..

    How about a love button?

I'm just as guilty as evreyone else. Trolling the forums and looking at posts but don't want to post.

Makes it very disheartning for people that post a photo and see views but nothing else. Just a bit of recognition goes a long way.
