Your turn to come up with a competition idea

The mods and I have been bouncing around a few ideas for some competitions. Basically we have several prizes to give away and we want something different as a method of working out who to give them to.

The concept is open to anything, it could be a photo comp, or it might not be. All we ask is that whatever ideas you present, they are something that members of all experience levels can participate in/achieve.

So over to you, come up with an idea for a competition that you, the members, would like to undertake with a chance to win a fairly decent prize.

Note that ultimately, the mods and I may do something not suggested or use something that is suggested but we may twist it.

so tell us, what sort of competition would you like to participate in. Think outside the square.

You could try something similar to the Canon comp that runs every year. Just give everyone a list of common everyday objects (say 8 or 10) and tell them to pick any three of them and combine them in a photo. They're unlikely to have one with those things already so it makes people actually take one, and it stretches the imagination a bit if the objects are fairly diverse. It's not so much about the camera either, so it lets anyone participate. Just an idea to start the ball rolling.

bobt's idea has merit. Give people one week to take a photo of either his suggested idea, or one week to take a photo of any decided idea. Get people creating new photos.

How about a PINK theme for Pink Ribbon Day? Perhaps we could hold a comp for Beginners, Intermediate & Advanced with a small entry fee per image and the ability to add up to 3 images. Part of the raised money could go towards a prize with the remainder being donated to the Cancer Council. October is their fundraing for Pink Ribbon Day so it could be in time. ?

I really like Bobt's idea. As far as the Pink Ribbon day, we may be running out of time to organise that, but it would be a great theme to organise for next year, along with Blue day, which is in support for prostate cancer (but I forget the date), cheers Deb

If you can't come up with a photographic theme/idea why not simply have an active members draw. May entice those who don't participate in group activities so much to become more involved.

I do like Bobs idea. Or something similar.
But I would like to see something for the more active members of the forum (Like members that have over an average of 1 post a day *not including started threads*, and over 100 posts) A reward to the faithful so to speak.

Lets make people scream and run. What is the most hated subject of all. SELF PORTRAIT Just a head and shoulders shot no funny ones just a good as you can selfie, no group or couples shots, just you.. It will probably rule out the judges from enteriing though.

Pet portrait (a posed one, not a candid 'catch')
Some challenges with strict rules - eg on candids I'd like it to have a rule where the subject must NOT be 'engaging' with the camera
    Street portrait
Selective colour - yes, I know most people hate it but done well it can be effective and striking

And I like Bob's idea too.

We had a treasure hunt comp at the camera club a while ago.
There were 100 items of which you had to take photo's of 20 during a month.
You got to enter your best 5 images of the 20 into judging; but needed the full 20 to enter.

Maybe we could adapt this idea?

also remember this doesn't have to be a photo comp. It could be something completely different, but photography related!

    "Creative photography maybe"
This seems a good theme to me, and also Artistic, which may be covered by this anyway.
