Whilst the lytro is really on a point and shoot, the concept and science behind this unique camera, if developed, could change photography forever.

That is amazing, to be able to change the focus point after you have taken the photo is revolutionary.

You can buy them for about $500.00. As for how they work, there are videos on their site that explain the concepts behind the science.

I like that one Rick. Six shops in Qld and nowhere near we live either otherwise I would be tempted.
The flowers one was the best that was great moving the focus to the other ones.

I guess the functionality is only available when viewed on screen.

Yep, you set the focus point and then can create a print from that one. But you could print several versions of the same photo, each with differing focus points selected. Would create an interesting montage, triptych etc.

Or perhaps use the files for focus stacking.

I think it's a one trick pony. Small depth of field, wherever you want after the fact, cool (at first) but that's it.

I predict we will get sick of looking at the pics from these cameras, they will be the next instagrams...
