can i use my Lens advice

i just ordered a canon 5d mark III and a tamron 24-70 vc, i get the camera body on Tuesday but i won't get the lens for 10 days
what i am trying to find out is if my tamron 17-50 vc or my tamron 70-300 vc will work on the body, i know my nifty 50 will.
i just need to get some practice shots on it since my daughter is getting married on the 20th October.

Tamron use Di in the name for lenses suitable only for Crop Sensor cameras
I'm not familiar with your lenses, if they are Di, I wouldn't use them, other wise I don't see a problem

I found 24-70 great on the 5D3, but I used the Canon mark II
I used the 70-200 more during the formal part and the 16-35 for some reception shots.
Over all I used 16-35 : 24-70 : 70-200 in the respective ration 1 : 10 : 6

the 17-50 id a dII and the 70-300 is a dI
i think the 70-300 will work on a 5d mark III but i just wanted to confirm be fore i try.

I don't think the 17-50 will mount onto the EF body at all.

I know Canon make the EF-S lenses incompatible with the EF bodies.
Reason is that the EF bodied mirror may strike the rear of the lens when operating the release.
Bad things happen to mirrors hitting lenses.

I'm not sure if Tamron makes their lenses in the same manner as Canon does tho(I suspect that they will tho).

Yes it will mount.
As I understand - ALL third party lenses (Tamron, Tokina etc . . .) made for APS-C Canon Cameras have an "EF" Mount.
Or stated another way, ONLY CANON makes lenses with an "EF-S" Mount.

If one mounts the Tamtron 17 to 50/2.8 on a 5D, there will be an Optical Vignette, but yes the lens will mount and can be used, for example in an emergency.
