I used magic later on my 550d. Fantastic hack. Missing some aspects of it on my 5d mkiii. Particularly the intervalometer. would have liked to try some other parts, such as sound activated shutter trip etc.

Errr, I think you are adding ambiguity.

Why would anyone with a camera, Canon or whatever brand, want to use keystroke logging software developed by the FBI?

Better get your tin foil hat out Mr Felix! I am guessing you wanted a link to the Magic Lantern Camera firmware add-on, that I linked to in the second post in this thread?

It only works on selected models and you risk not having Canon support, i.e. you have to revert to standard firmware if you have a problem

Dont know about the software but I have a Magic Lantern BOOK that I bought for my 60D. Fantastic - I learned a lot from it.

I don't use it, being a nikon user kinda prevents it, however do know a mate who uses it extensively and reckons its pretty sweet, it does occasionally lock his camera up, but the benefits of things like the Intervalometer out weigh the minor issues..

I am also looking at a "box" which can do a lot of tricks with when/how to take a picture. I shall post the link later.

You know what I think, from all your posts/threads, you have shown that you have a lot to learn regarding photography. I reckon you should stick to your camera as it is now, put your efforts into producing good consistent quality photographic results, and when you can show that, and find that your gear is the limiting factor in your photography, AND you can find a need for the additional features offered by a magic lantern FW add-on, then, and only then, look at installing one!

I've recently put the firmware on my 5d Mk II and love it. Obviously you take on board the void warranty etc. But after woeful experience with various timed shutters etc I took the plunge and love it. Be it there is lot more features I don't use as they are for video, but there are some nice addons for stills.
