looks really good Kym.....cept the deal breaker for me is no RAW. Bugger as I want a travel camera. Looks like the FZ150 now.

Sensor size is the deal breaker for me. But I'm more then happy with my k5 anyway.

No, I mean the K-r.

The K-30 isn't an entry level camera, it's an intermediate camera. The K-r has been discontinued officially but is still available on store shelves, and it is a hell of a camera.

I have a K-r and a K-5.

Hopefully Pentax will announce a decent entry level DSLR to replace the K-x/K-r bodies, keep the K-30 in the middle and announce a high end replacement to the recently discontinued K-5. They have some amazing bodies ATM and with a decent replacement lineup I think they can build on this and gain significant market share.

The Pentax forum is saying the K-5 is now discontinued. An announcement on its replacement is apparently coming soon. I only just got my K-5, and I am loving it, so can only imagine what its replacement will be like!

Talking about super zooms, I'm most interested to see the upcoming 560mm f5.6.

Shame I probably won't be able to afford it.

I'm printing 30" wide stuff from my X-s1 superzoom > how often do you buggers with your great-big-sensor SLRs print 30" wide images??

ps- my Kx with Sigma lenses is less sharp than the old Panasonic FZ30 with its 12x Leica zoom of 35mm to 420mm FF equiv
It's been donated to a beginner some time ago, so I can't do side-by-side tests with the X-s1, but still > so what...

The XS-1 is far and away more advanced than any of the other current superzooms, being as how it has the same sensor as the X-10... But its HUGE. Convenient that theres no lens change required, but HUGE.

Whats the EVF like in it? as good as the X100?

Not really excited about the X-5 from Pentax, if its anything like it predecessors it will be pretty woeful. OTOH, if Ricoh has had a hand in the design... maybe not.

As for the EVF - I have said many times in this & other places that the EVF is so superior to a SLR's optical viewfinder, that I will never welcome using an optical SLR viewfinder again
