Anyone got the Sigma 12-24 f4.5-5.6 II DG ??

I currently use my Nikon 17-35 f2.8 as my wide angle lens on my full frame body. I use the good old sigma 10-20 on my crop sensor body.

I am thinking of getting something wider (at a reasonable price) for the full frame and wondered if anyone has the Sigma 12-24 and what they think of it.

I only have the mark 1 version, albeit having gone through 2 variations as the first one I had lost in Vietnam - which was noticeably sharper than the replacement mark 1 I bought on the edge performance.

Overall the widest lens for FF is great for certain stuff, like receptions at weddings and travel photography as you can focus so damn close up with it. But If I had to buy an ultra wide again, I'd invest in a 14mm prime or something for better sharpness especially for the corner performance.

Rick..OT I know...but what 10-20 do you have as I now realise that there are two..which is the best performer , the 4-5.6 or the F3.5....

the 10-20 is a DC lens, so only for crop sensor bodies, I have had it for years. Would need to look when I get home to see which one it is. I only use it on my d200

I have the 4-5.6, have not used the f3.5. The 4-5.6 is a brilliant bit of kit for the price. Great for those sweeping wide angle landscapes. Well worth the money if you are looking at one
