    Petal Fringe

I am just starting to work with my new Sony A57 with Sony Zeiss 16-80mm zoom.
The following shot was at 1/200s, f4.5 (max for this lens), ISO 200, Focal length 80mm (35mm equiv 120mm), hand-held.
Spot focusing was used, focused on the very centre of the white pansy.

As shown in the enlarged section if=n #2, there is a distinct green fringing on the edge of the petal.

I have never noticed this to such an extent before (ie on my Sony DSCR1 with similar lens). But then I probably never took the same sort of shot with the same settings.

Any comment on causes, actions to take would be very welcome.

    Thanks,

    Ian

    Ian.
The petal looks a little soft focus-wise, or as if there was mist on the lens.

    I note your exif says "F/45/10" (I suppose, f/4.5).

What does it do in shots like this at other apertures?

Thanks Am, The lens was clear but there could be a bit of movement. The 45/10 must be another Sony quirk - they seem to be good at that.

These are at 1/250, f8.0 ISO 800 and 1/500, f4.5 ISO 800: the fringing is not evident to me. I will have to take some more of the white flower; I guess its because of the white/green relationship? The focal length is 60mm (= 90mm) in these.

Certainly none evident in the 2nd lot, Ian. I am also thinking of the sharp white/dark boundary.
