    Gigapixel Camera anyone ?

A Birth Certificate shows that we were born.
A Death Certificate shows that we died.
    Pictures show that we lived!

I can just hear myself saying, "I just can't get over it!" (As large as a bedside cabinet, didn't they say?)

    G'day all

As I mentioned on another place - these cameras are flying overhead, 200km up and are the ones that can read a newspaper
From my days at Defence canberra and my dealings with the Australian Space Office I have seen things that are not publically available > I can say no more without contravening the Official Secrets Act

    Regards, Phil

Of all the stuff in a busy photographers kitbag, the ability to see photographically is the most important

It wasn't all that long ago that the first 1.4mp cameras came out in real terms, and I remember my first 6mp camera thinking that was pretty flash at the time, but it's pretty sad next to my 18mp, and that is sad next to a 40mp blad, so as we look back now at those 1.4mp cameras and think how much things have changed, it's not at all inconceivable that we'll look back in 10 years time at today's 40+mp cameras with the same smirk as we now have for those 1.4mp ones. Even if they're not gigapixel, it's almost a certainty that we will find 40+mp a tiny amount in 10 years.
I know I once heard a film tog - back when 3mp cameras were just hitting the market - claim that he'll never go to digital till they reach 12mp which was what he believed standard colour film was approx equivalent to (apparently that's debateable), and at the time that seemed to be a pipe-dream, as it was 4x what some of the best could do at the time. Some pipedream. Mine's over that now.
