    Site upgrade Friday 2012-06-08 - report problems in this thread

    We are upgrading the site software this Friday between 9am and 12pm AEST.
    The new software has been running in our test environment for over a month.

    This is a major upgrade that will introduce some new features.
    • Activity stream (a bit like Facebook or Google+)
    • Navigation (menu) changes (there will be some minor changes)
    • Doublepost Prevention
    • Some other technical and performance improvements

    See this post for more details

    Menu Bar on the home page is all crunched up in the lrft hand corner.
    As soon as I hit any menu item and enter the menu bar is back to normal.
    Seems to be only a problem on the home page.
    CC always welcome and appreciated.
    Tweaks welcome but please add how and why.

    I seem to have the same problem as Cap, I have IE 9. It is only on the home page though.

    I found an obscure bug, Kym. When I do a site search for my own threads I am advised the search was on threads of the last person I PM'd. See screenshot. The threads are actually Ray's, too. I'm using Safari on the iMac but I don't think it's a browser issue.

    search_issue.jpg

    Update: When I went and read a few PM's, then came back to the Threads I've Posted In search, it was back to referencing me, instead of my last PM addressee. Weird.

    Update2: Went back into the PM's to read a few new ones and when I came back I've got Ray's threads again! Opened again in a new tab and voila; MY threads again! WT?

    I dont want to edit and add to the above as it might remove itself or double up agian

    The Thanks for the Useful Post Button does not work on the thread now, though it did earlier

    Its doubled up again

    - - - Updated - - -

    Trying to put this one on again I did get it on the top then when I added to the reply it got removed
    All my replies are doubling up then when I edit them they remove a different reply

    @Mary Anne
    The new double post feature has a 1 hour time out.
    Any reply within 1 hour to the same thread by the same member will be merged unless someone else posts in between.

    @WhoDo
    I'm trying to reproduce the problem, no luck so far.

    @WhoDo - problem fixed - it was a weird cache condition due to how PMs are processed

    @Mary Anne - that's because its a new feature with this software release.

    Thanks, Kym. When you said you were having trouble duplicating it, I thought it might stay hidden. Glad you found the fix!

    Somehow you must have typed a .something after the 10-20@11mm.test which made the system think it was an email address that was auto formatted, then edited off some of the text.

    NOT due to the upgrade

    Is there any way for me to make the Forums page my starting page when I visit this site? It seems to go straight to the What's New page now

    @Peter ... Yes that's the new default behaviour of vBulletin as of the upgrade.

    Bookmark this link http://www.ausphotography.net.au/forum/forum.php to have old behaviour.
