Melbourne Zoo is celebrating its 150th Birthday 13th Oct 2012 and there are 50 Painted
Mali the Elephant statues ? around Melbourne?

Maybe we could do a Elephant hunt?meet? (Photos only of course) in Melbourne?

Not sure but maybe a competition? Best Mali photos ? Or most you can find?

Here are some I took with my pocket camera in Swanston St with my Point+Shoot camera

Ahh ... found this post too late ... I went out last weekend to capture all 50 elephants. Lots of walking. So hard to take nice pictures when you know that you need to go to 50 different locations. I posted a few here on the forum. I got all 50 Mali Elephants up on my website ... still working on some of the pics.

All the elphants you captured I did in the night ... so not that great for some of them. I like esp. the knitted one on Fed Square in your pic. i couldn't capture it like that in the night. What I realised is that when you go down (nearly on street level you do not see the concrete base). When you shoot upwards they look massive ... :-)

    Thanks for replying.

There has been very little interest so far, it is winter I suppose.

I am not sure of how long the Elephants will be on display, and organising a meet
has in the past been difficult to get people to agree on a time/day

I cant do next weekend, and after work during the week I am limited to what days I;m available

    # If you have a Iphone there is a App that lists where all the Elephants are.

Thanks Chris just thought it would be nice to have some company for this, I know about the app. Wonder if there is one that shows the location of each stop in between each

It is a tough day to find all 50 elephants in 1 day (esp. with stops). The iphone app is great to find them. Crashes sometimes and some locations are not 100% ... but it is a great help.

Have a look at my Elphant photos here: 50 Mali Elephants Haha ... love the
I would love to see some other pictures of these elephants ... :-)

Hi aweiss started to take a look at your pictures of the other day and then stopped as I didn't want to spoil the real experience. When i have taken the walk / hunt for myself I will go back and take a look at them. Thanks for the response.
