Members with Hotmail/MSN/Live emails attached to their AP account

    For information:

Hotmail has blocked some of the hosting service IP addresses for the hosting company that Ausphotography is with. This blocking started about an hour ago. I have initiated action to try and resolve this as soon as possible.

In the meantime, any member who has a Hotmail email attached to their account will not get email notifications of subscribed threads. You will not be able to do a password reset, or if you are just joining up, you will not receive the activation codes.

I will endeavor to ensure this is resolved quickly, with discussions with the hosting company.

If you require access to these services, change your email to another address (not Hotmail) and the subscriptions emails etc will get through to you.

I have temporarily blocked new member registrations with hotmail email addresses. Members who are trying to join up using hotmail at present are not receiving the activation email (it is bouncing back to me). Once this issue is resolved, I will restore member registrations from hotmail accounts

For more information, it is to do with THIS. Hotmail have changed the way they detect and determine what is spam (as at April 2012- they implemented the change earlier this evening) and they have applied a block to email from the hosting service that AP is on...Grrrr. Micro$oft stuffs up again!

This issue still continues. I have also confirmed it affects @live.com emails in addition to hotmail.

I am still liaising with Micro$oft to resolve this as soon as possible

I had this problem with my host company in December last year. It is still not resolved. Orginally it was hotmail, live, msn and from memory Google and Yahoo for a short time. My host said they had done everything requested by hotmail, but still nothing is happening. It is a pain. I'm on a shared server and apparently someone else on the server spammed heavily. My hosts resolved that problem within 48 hours but we still bear the legacy of being blocked by Hotmail.

Hopefully you will have more success than I did.

We are on a XEN based VPS, so we have a unique IP address.
    We don't spam.

These are the emails we do send...
    - User registrations
    - Subscriptions
    - PM notifications
    - Newsletter every few months

    UPDATE

Microsoft advised me at 7.44am last Saturday (22nd April) that they have resolved this blocking.

As of now, all hotmail/live/msn emails are still bouncing back to me from their servers. I have emailed them repeatedly over the past few days requesting they investigate this, I have not had a single reply from them.

I have now emailed them advising that we need this resolved, or I will have no choice but to permanently block hotmail/live/msn email addresses from being used on AP.

Any existing member who has a hotmail/live/msn email and wants to receive email advices to subscribed threads, PM notifications, AP Newsletter, might consider changing your email to another address (not from these Microsoft email providers). You can do so via the email and password screen in your settings menu.

If within 24 hours, I have not had a reply/resolution from Microsoft, we will be permanently blocking all hotmail/live/msn email addresses from being used on AP. We will be sending each active AP member who has a hotmail/live/msn email address attached to their account a PM advising them of what they can do. This will be done via PM as we cannot email you .

Apologies for this, but it is outside our control, and Microsoft are being less than helpful so far.

I would recommend changing to another email service (yahoo, gmail etc.) regardless of the outcome.

At this time, we are still being blocked by Hotmail/Live/MSN.

I am therefore going to block those emails indefinitely from being used on Ausphotography, effective immediately

I will be sending every member who has an email address in the above group a PM shortly, with instructions on how to change their email address so they can receive notifications from Ausphotography.

If at some point in future, these blocks are removed, I will re-instate access for these email addresses.
