Tamron SP 24-135 f3.5 AF Aspherical

HI Guys,

does anyone know if this lens is meant for a full frame sensor or designed just for APS-C sensors.

has anyone used one and what do they think about it ??

A few years back Tamron used to manufacture a 28-105mm f/2.8 for the film world.

I've read conflicting opinions of this lens, so I've never really bothered to chase it up, but they can be found for up to about $600 or so here and there every now and then.

Just another alternative I thought you may be interested in.

I had one, you can use it on FF or crop sensor OK. Pretty sharp too. Great walk around lens. Zoom a bit stiff and reviews say that is common, sold it as the stiff zoom made it tedious to use. Should be able to get one for less than $200.

This is a film era lens. I use it on my Canon EOS film cameras and it is an excellent general purpose lens on those. It would probably be OK on a digital camera as well - many film era lenses work fine, but remember that it is designed as a full frame lens so there will be a crop factor on an APS-C format.

I have one for Nikon...very sharp...contrast isn't as good as my nikon 17-35 or my 70-200VrII...but then again I wouldn't expect it to be...its a really good walkabout lens..light and good FL..can be used on a full frame sensor

Mongo has now bought a Tamron SP 24-135 ( $170 in greast condition) and will test it when he gets back and let you know what he thinks of it. Thank you all for your comments

Am congratulates Mongo. Am has a Tamron 135mm, f/2.5 that has an Adaptall 2 mount, and that he likes very much. He uses it with a Tamron 2x converter sometimes.
It is manual focus only, and many of the birds fly away in the meantime, but he thinks, "So what? I am retired."

For interest, Am asks is the one Mongo bought manual focus also?

Mongo can inform AM that his copy is an AF version. It is a just a touch slow in the AF department but not enough to worry Mongo. Mongo is hoping that it will AF faster on his new D800 when he gets it.
