Hi, I am a total novice with a Canon 550D and an interest in macro.
I have never used any software to adjust my photos, (because I don't know how) and I have always used jpeg. I would appreciate any responses / help /advice re using raw. I have only heard of it never used it or even tried to - advantages? disadvantages? Or should I stick to jpeg and the software that came with the camera, whilst I am still learning manual settings and before I purchase Photoshop or similar to use with my Macbook computer?
Hope that is not too many questions, it is just what I am currently wondering.

thanks :)

Went down to the beach yesterday afternoon with intent to try HDR for the first time, Got my various exposures and got home and followed in the same steps I'd seen in the seemingly easy tutorial. The post processing turned out much harder than I first imagined and really wasn't able to get much I was happy with. In the end from 10 exposures I used two and blended them using the gradient tool. So I guess it's still some what of a "HDR" image but far from what I'd imagine would be the final result.

CC greatly appreciated as it is the first time attempting this kind of image, and help for dealing with moving clouds between exposures, the "ghosting" tool in HDR PRO within Photoshop CS5 did little to nothing to help me. Also would you suggest I obtain a a dedicated HDR program such as photomatix or stick with Photoshop which I'm some what comfortable with whilst I still grasp the basics

This hike from near Wanaka is a pretty gruelling one , especially the last section up a narrow steep ridgeline. Just as well the weather was good when I did it!
The views were simply incredible because of the steep topography though. Even though the weather was almost too perfect, being up there seeing the transition of colours all round at sunset was incredible!
As a result, exposures were difficult to keep constant which I would usually do for a pano.
Mt Aspiring is on the left, Wanaka on the right - the walk starts from right down the bottom 1200m below

There's a few jetties on the Maroochy River. I went down earlier this week and got some photos. The pano's are cropped not stitched, and all frames taken with the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8.

I've used a few techniques here to get the exposures. I guess it was a bit of an experiment/exercise to try and keep the results looking more or less consistent over multiple techniques.

Feel free to point out issues with these images. How have I gone for consistency? Do any of them scream that they were processed a certain way? I've tried to keep them as natural as possible.
