So Nikon is now discontinued on the D700 and D300s, partially due to changes in the laws around power supply in Japan, but it would seem that perhaps its also just the right time to hit with new models. I wouldn't expect Nikon to stop making the cameras for long though, and with the D800 due to be released on the 7th of February, and no top of the range model DX the question is, will they hit us with a double announcement and bring the D400 out simultaneously? Interesting times ahead. Talk seems to be debating whether it will be a 24 MP D800 or a 36MP - nikon rumors seems convinced of the later so could make for an interesting camera. Looks like new toys to salivate over soon, and perhaps a few good quality cameras coming on to the market because of updates.

I think there will still be a few batteries available on the market seeing as how the same battery type has now been used in quite a few bodies over the years.

After all, what do a few Japanese regulations mean to Chinese battery manufacturers and wholesalers / retailers? :D
