LOL. Love the byline he requested if they refused payment. Thanks for sharing that. I'm not a professional, and no-one would ever want my photos, but it was still a good read.

I think he should have gone with something more subtle, actually tricking them into putting some double meaning byline :)

There was some interesting information in the last Capture magazine that I read (December edition I think).

If he's not willing to give free photos I hope he does not expect free advice. He certainly wo'nt get it from a qualified professional.

Had a qld newspaper use copy I wrote during a freelance journalism course for a feature.

The pr woman I had to get approval from to do the story ( it was on a hotel staff member) shared the copy with a journalist and they printed it , only changing the lead 2 lines.

I approached 2 other newspaper with it...but not the one that printed it without me knowing, until a month later when i saw it published.

2 thoughts - was happy I was now a published writer lol....and really peeved she didn't ask, or at least recognize its bad ethics to do this.

I was 20 something....live and learn....I let it be.

20 years later I'm confident she'd get a very different reaction...and me a nice cheque!

Great article Rick....

Tony, I believe Cameron is a qualified professional, and as such, as with all professionals, you only become that way by being paid to ply your trade.

Great article.
