Yes, AP member HelmutK has one and from his usage of it and then from me comparing it to the 600 and 800 we own it stacks up well.
Good power levels for general usage, pretty easy to use interface when you get used to it and built in much the same way as the rest of the Nikon flash range with decent quality.

I have considered the sb-700 but is very expensive as I am just an amateur. :D

HUH, you have posted you are considering the Canon 7D, this Nikon flash is for Nikon gear.

after much research ,Mongo decided it was the best of the bunch "all rounder" for what he wants to do and bought one in the last few weeks. NOt yet fully tested but initial play around with it is impressive so far.

Useless for Canon , of course.

I bought two last year while in the airport and Singapore..great flashes..not as powerful as the SB900...but for me its a better option..plus I can get two in my bag easy..and a lot cheaper ..I think I paid $360 each..for a Nikon flash with a metal foot I think that's reasonable

I've bought and used one with my D7000. Overall it's been very effective and works very well on or off camera. It has definitely been worth the investment!
