I have had Lightroom installed for a few months now. I was scared of it at first...still am I think.

I was ploughing through pretty good just dabbling along when I wanted to import some pics from my desktop which I did.

I then wanted some more and everrthing every folder every photo came into Lightroom and there were hundreds and hundreds. I could not get rid of them:angry0:.

I deleted lightroom and re-installed and all the pics came flowing through again. I want to turn it back on but I know what is going to happen. I really need some help please. I will get to one other question soon.:th3:

yes, just delete the catalog and start with a new one

How are you importing the files ? you can choose what directories via import or you can sync the folders you want

kiwi,

I must say and embarassed to do so but I really have not got my head around it. I just for to file and import and it says from where and I click desktop. I am ashamed to say I do not have any catalogs I have tried to creat them but then I can never get them to come up. I just got Nat Coalson's book but very comfused I need to start all over again. Just can't get rid of the pics and stop them from coming in. Sorry it is complicated and I feel stupid.
Thank you

Don't panic

All Lightroom is doing is cataloging what you already have stored on your desktop

If you don't want that, just dont import that directory

What you should do is set up a new directory under my pictures, call it say 2011 and point lightroom to that one, and start importing all your new photos into that

What I recommend you do it sort out your desktop directory structure first before you import those old photos into LR and I wouldn't import them I'd just sync that old folder structure

Anyhow , don't panic !!!!

Give me a call tomorrow sometime on 0403062429 if you are still stuck and I'll give you a hand

Go out and buy a copy of Scott Kelby's book "Adobe photoshop lightroom for digital photographers" for your version of lightroom. Then spend a week going through the book. it will enlighten you more fully than AP can. It will be worth every cent.

Thanks Rick,

I have Nat Coalson's book but it is way over the top for me to take in. I will get Scott Kelby's one though I was on his website looking around and signed up for newsletters and was seeing he had a lot that may help me.
I am just trying to get all these pics off lightoom now so I can start over and now I understand I need to organise things better well heaps better.
I have a pic I took of a seagull with the city behind it . I think it looks quite good i just need to find out how to remove 2 small things in the background but scared to try and import right now.

I might uplod here to see if someone can advise in Post Processing. Cheers Rick.:th3:

These are not my best pics but I am posting here because I want to ask how do I remove the top of the buildings behind from the birds head. The other pic with the grass is there a way to erase that in lightroom. I am going to try and post these again. I have only done monor pp on Picasa because I cannot get Lightroom sorted out yet. Thank you:th3:

Sorry for this mess the code in Flicxkr keep coming up with the same bird, I will look into it. I really am trying and iI know when you are real savy at something this sort of question is probably a pain in the butt however I would like to use the program for editing and was starting to do ok until this happened.

I am still not sure what to do about Lightroom should I delte again? How do I stop all the pics from coming in again?:confused013
