Was window shopping on-line today and happened to check out DCW's current price on the K5.

$1159, yes, you read it correctly.......$1159 That's a drop of $410, or 26%.

This puts it on a better than even footing with the offshore grey imports when you factor in shipping, duty PLUS you get a genuine local warranty.

Stat[i]cice are still showing it at the old price of $1569.

Could this be the Ricoh factor kicking in early?

Think it's time to start flogging off all my Canon 'A' series bodies and FD lens.

It would be nice to have an indication that Ricoh are going to sort the QC issues out at Pentax.

The K5 seems like a damn fine body and those who have one without the various issues (probably in the 95%+ range) are rapt.

One can only speculate about the thinking behind the K5 price drop.

Was it Pentax clearing stock before the handover? Is Ricoh already having input? Is there an update or a new model in the wind?

I guess the next week or so will give an indication.

Oh and it would also be nice to have a lens roadmap featuring at least a T/C and something longer than 300mm.

The US MSRP dropped $400 recently, so the price drop in AUS is from CRK dropping the RRP from $1800 to $1349. Tempted to grab one when I get some tax back along with one of those O-GPS1's. It's a pity the battery grip is still twice what you can get it from the US for.
