Here is the plan...

Meet at 2pm on a Sunday at Victor at the Whale Centre and madly chase
up the coast to Goolwa and beaches in between :p

We just need to agree a Sunday PM

I've always found Whales at Basham's beach

Thoughts and ideas?

Maybe we plan 2 Sundays and decide on the day based on the weather.

I will be interested, will depend on which date but I should be up for it.
I do go down to Basham a lot during the winter and does seem to be one of the best places.

Count me in.

I will have to see when the date's get closer, a for the light it is getting dark about 5.00 and I haven’t seen a wale yet , out fishing or looking for them I have only seen it in the paper that they are about .
Me I sit at Chiton Rocks SLSC and see which way they are going then off to the bluff or Port Elliot lookout’s to get a better view ...Rod

I will probably be in this. I loved watching sail-board riders and seals last time! :D

We do not normally plan this far ahead. Will confirm closer (much closer) to the date (whichever one is chosen)

I would certainly be interested, and we dont usually do much on a Sunday, so any of those days would probably be good for me. I will keep a watch of this thread for definate dates and times.

The kids and i were only just talking about going to see the whales as we havent seen them before either. I'm free and available on any of the days mentioned so i think i will just watch and see what date is confirmed and then go from there. Work may be the only issue as my rosters arent done that far ahead but i dont usually work on a sunday so should be all good. Would just be me sneaking off for the day and happy enough to take others along if transport is an issue, i'll have room for 4 others

I think we need to wait until closer to the date - due to weather.

Hi Kym had a look at the whale watch centre log, and july looks a better mounth, but on go slow so aren' able to look at the history very well takes to long but could be worth a closer look to get a better overall idea of best times during the year for a good chance to see some. Got to go down on the july 23rd anyway so might take the oportunity then anyway.

I went down last Sunday and saw one whale (we were only there for an hour), there have been more sightings this week.

So the 10th looks good at this stage. We'll be down there on the 10th

We were down at Basham's 2 weeks ago and the weather looks ok for Sunday.

I think we should meet @ Basham's as parking in Victor is problematic and we waste time meeting there.
It is also better for people travelling via Goolwa.

Map below. See you at 2:00pm.

Bring your long lenses and tripods! Dress warmly.

Hi Kym, I am a volunteer with SteamRanger and I have checked with the train schedule and the Steam engine could be running on the 17th as well. If any one is interested you may also get a few shots of trainspotting. The RX207 has been off the rails for a couple of years and looks a gem now it has been refurbished. I am unable to take photos at present after recently having major shoulder surgery, and is a slow recovery, but I like to keep in touch on the forums and also learn from AP Learning Centre. Good luck everyone with the whale watch, they are there ready to be taken (photos) that is.
