Did you check this thread?

Someone spoke about this lens - might help. But again depends on what you want it for to.

Provided it fits your needs, it is a brilliant lens. Great value for money and one of the sharpest I have ever had. Wish I'd kept it!

IS or not IS ?? ...if not IS, that is close to the retail price from a number of online sellers.

I have the 70-200 F4 L IS lens and it is one of my favourite lenses. I work in the Pilbara and it is on my camera all the time
whilst I am there. I can recommend it as one great lens that I will be keeping.
I would say for that price though, it wouldnt have IS.

I have this lens. I don't use it as much as I'd like to though - it tends to scare small children and you collect jibes as sports events. However despite that, when you are doing a photographic project, for the money, it is an exceptional lens. I agree that the price is steep. I bought mine years ago and that's about what I paid for it. Indeed, if someone was going to give me that sort of money I'd take it and get an IS version!

I agree! I've just been looking at these lenses in the same series- and im going to save a bit more and go with the IS- if you're going handheld, you really cant afford to go without!

Good choice in saving for the IS; have used both IS and non-IS f/4 versions, and found that I had a lot more 'keepers' with the IS version;

I guess this also boils down what you shoot and whether you require it
