Not doing too bad then!.....but where is the 85mm........

DigitalRev

Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX Micro 85mm f/3.5G ED VR is a very good option for the DX body but the 105mm just offers more in terms of both short term performance and long term possibilities (as in if you wish to shoot with a FX body as well in the future).

I think may be referring to the 85 1.4 af-s

85 1.4
105

they sure are a great list... but not recommended for a d90? ;)

just kidding :p

I agree on the 85/1.4 too, not that i have one but it'd be superb to have. wanna buy all these for me :)

I also thing youd want to choose lenses that are FX too, rather than limited to DX. A bit of future-proofing, so, not sure the 12-24 DX lens can stay in either

Well unless you go with the 16-35, you're going to have the monster 14-24... I got a pretty good price second hand for my 10-24 DX which served me very well. I'd consider ditching the 24-70 in favour of a 35mm 1.8, save yourself $1500 and not lose *too* much (depending on your style of shooting of course).

hmm, I think really

14-24 landscapes
24-70 general
70-200 general
105 micro portraits & macro
30 1.4 something nice and fast for bad light indoors

?

whatcha reckon

My actual current kit

20 2.8
24-70
70-200
50 1.4
400 2.8
105 micro

I have a bit of alignment to do

how's that look ?

tough eh

Looks pretty good.

On DX though you have a little dilemna I suppose. 50 is quite long, 20 not that wide.... although that makes a great combo for both DX and FX without having 2 sets of lenses

kiwi
24-11-2010, 6:03pm
yeah, Ic like something wider than 20 that goes FX and DX, but not too keen on the 14-24 $$$ wise. Im stuck on that one....it has to be Nikon. Wouldnt mind a fish either

i'm loving the 16-35 f4 - makes a pretty nice walkaround lens too, is smaller and lighter than the 14-24 and takes standard 77mm filters.

Im thinking prime.....not that there is one

Hmm, I think anything over 300mm are for specific specialized use, not really a must have for a general all around kit
