Ooops! Poor DPR, I think they may have stuffed up this particular review!

The comparison images(studio scene) against the 50D has been monumentally botched up. Focus is different for each image, and it therefore makes it hard to compare the two cameras against each other.

I like their new interactive review page tho. Looks uber cool.

Thanks for posting Kym. I actually think the 60D is a step backwards in a lot of ways compared to the 50D.

I recently chose a 50D for the following reasons:
CF rather than SD (match my 7D)
Metal body
AF micro adjust
Faster continuous rate (6fps vs 5.3)
Layout, ie multi pos joy stick etc, all very similar to my 7D
More customisations
And lastly PRICE!!!

Really happy with my 50D, perfect companion for my 7D (and couldn't justify a 5D!). Anyway, horses for courses ;)

its all about video, the 60d is the video version of the 50d i guess.

Really wishing I snapped up one of the 50D's when Ted's had them on run-out at ~$850...

Now I've gotta shell out for the 7D (which is an awesome camera, but really more than I need).

:(

You can still pick them up for around that price delivered grey market from OS, that's how I got mine ;)

For people upgrading from a Rebel, both 50D and 60D are steps forward. And there are many dimensions along which to compare them. The 50D may be more solid and have better controls and so on, but the 60D has video, swivel screen and (presumably) better high-ISO performance. It depends on what's most important to you.

Last night I made my decision between a canon 17-55 or sigma 17-50, now it's, 50d or 60d, so far I think it's the 60d, the plastic body and one less fps doesn't bother me, as this will be a second body to the 7d, but it would've been nice if it had micro-adjust, and while SD cards are a little less expensive than CF, it does mean that I'd have to buy more memory cards, other than those couple of things, so far, everything else seems to be up on the 50d, plus it's only $150 more than the 50.

I was in a similar quandry, trying to choose between the 60D and the 7D, and ended up with a 60D - and couldn't be happier.
I prefer plastic bodies, as many of the metal bodied cameras I've had in the past just end up with scratches and dents all over them, whereas the plastic ones seemed to look good forever.
Who needs the extra weight anyway and 5.whatever FPS is more than fast enough for me, even taking shots of cars going at over 160km/h.

As far as picture quality goes, the images from the 60D and the 7D are exactly the same anyway.
As far as micro focusing goes, if your lens doesn't focus properly in the first place, get it fixed!
The flip out screen on the 60D is superb and is definitely better than the screen on the 7D.

To me, the 7D is a great camera, but the 60D is more modern in its materials and execution and having some extra filters in the camera comes in handy too.

Having come from a 60D (the old, metal one), the new D60 is leaps and bounds ahead in every department.

Very interestng responses I think i have been carried away with all the Canon marketing of the 60D, the video and swivel screen does look appealing.
