I was looking at getting a Sigma 100-400mm lens for my canon 450D.
I want to use it for wildlife, but I was told not to buy one, because it lacks quality.

Does anyone own, or has owned this lens that you could give some advice on the lens.

Thanks

Who told you it lacks quality ? in what way/area ?
A quick search has found these threads, some good and bad in each
