After much procrastinating I have made a significant investment in my photography. The business has gone from a couple of images now and then to a part time job including working on assignment for Australian Motorcycle News magazine.

Hey Gordon, congrats on the noce new lens, mate! It looks a real beauty!

As you know, I was in two minds whether to get the 200-400 f4 or the 300 f2.8 and of course you know I got the 300 as it suits TC's better.

Look forward to seeing your results and your thoughts on it. :)

I am green with envy:( Birthday coming up and is on my wish list, but I don't think so. Well done and enjoy!!

Unfortunately resistance is futile... I am weak so it only took about 2 months for me to succumb. As well for me the Mrs has as expensive hobby too ;)

Cheers Lance. I was in the same predicament, took alot of thought to decide. In the end it came down to availability. Picked up this beauty from a local. It is in as new condition, a credit to the previous owner. The price was just too good to go past. I'll have to get used to the weight, and no doubt learn to use it on a monopod (yuk  ). I believe I will use the zoom particularly between 250 and 400 mm. First impressions appear it is a long way better at 400mm that the 300/4 + 1.4 TC.

It can't be that heavy, it looks like the lens hood is carbon fibre. Whats the beef?
You might end up like this guy, who is the German arm wrestling champion.

I'm very jealous, it looks absolutely stunning. My expensive hobbies of cycling and photography are tolerated by my good lady wife, but I know that sort of gear is divorce material. Congratulations.
