I got rid of the Sigma 10-20mm some months ago because of 'softness' issues , and I didn't the like strange curved distortion either . I've done my homework and the Tokina gets good reviews and my new lens arrived today .
Don't attribute too much of the colours to the lens - I did a levels adjustment and a slight saturation bump on these images .all at F2.8

My house .

I just got back from a meal in town .... my Friday night 'treat' .
The Tokina 11-16 is already my favourite lens of all time , in less than a day .
Here are some shots at F2.8 , all iso 3200 on the D90 .

The one image I took at 16mm , my car parked outside the hotel ...

Looks like this lens is a keeper.

You have to be happy with what you've posted for a quick first run, although I can see a little curvature, top & bottom, on the last shot

Cheers

Agree with trublubiker.

I do like it especially after seeing that quick run with it.

I put straight lines right near the edges to test it to the limits :) My Sigma 10-20 had horrible distortion around that area , a strange slightly curved line that dropped off suddenly near the edges . This lens has 'good' distortion that would be easier to fix if I cared enough to do it.

Looks like a good 'un. Nothing wrong with those shots. Look forward to seeing more from you.

Hi Desmond

My comment was meant as an observation and certainly not as a criticism. The rest of the frame, and the other shots, were so impressive you've made me re-think having the 10-20 on top of my wishlist.

It occured to me after that the affect you achieved in the last post could be utilised as an effective framing tool.

Cheers

Kevin

I have this lens and I love it to bits. It's almost always on the camera :)

I think it's going to stay on my D90 for a long time !

Yep , I didn't take it the wrong way [ I'm a South African , not a touchy Kiwi ;) ], but I did do some more tests today - the obligatory shots of a wall , just to see how well it performs in that aspect ....

I'm worried I won't use my other lenses in future :confused013 :)
