Need an answer for a friend,he has a 50D and wants to take Product shots for his own products (Clear Photo Pages and Menu Covers ) He wants to know a good lens, any suggestions?

Every time I put my camera on my monopod to take a photo of myself, I can't balance the camera well enough to activate the remote timer and walk away from it while it still stands up. It keeps falling over :(

I find my tripod way more steady when I no longer hold the camera.

Lol, I have no idea how my post ended up here. It was a response to a discussion of mono pod v's tripod. Not sure if the system just decided to put my post in a random location, or if there was user error on my part involved, but I am sceptical here, as I had not looked at this thread before.

I have a canon 50D I think that the 24 - 105mm L EF, has grate color & is sharp, I love it is a good all round lens I have taken product with it but they where very lage items. Still I would have a look at the lens.
