With the new lenses that i am going to buy i have found that it is way cheaper to buy hoya hd and uv filter for one lens, and buy filter adapters for the additional 3 lenses.

The biggest being 77mm right down to 55mm. (55-77, 58-77, 72-77)

Is such a combination considered ok. Will it create glare issues with a 77mm on a 55mm lens? I will still use a petal filter just the screw in type.

And will the screw in type petal filter promote vignetting on the 72-77mm?

Any filter can increase flare. Flare is generally caused by light bouncing around inside the lens, often where there is a coating on the lens that reflects light (think glossy surfaces etc), so any extra glass element can increase the incidence of lens flare. Lenses can have flare even without filters attached. Adding stepping rings will not in itself add to lens flare.
