I believe this lens was released earlier this year .... Has anyone had any experience with it ?
Have read some reviews published on the web, the results ranged from extremely good to a piece of crap.
The zoom range is just what I want & the lens will replace the very basic kit lens that came with the camera.
Any comments ???

Not having used it, but some general comments. Most of these 'super zooms' are good kit lenses, and work well for those who do a variety of photography, often being newer to photography. We often see these lenses offered as a kit, with a camera etc. They work, they do a good job, they mean people often do not need to change lenses. But, they are just that, entry level zoom lenses. If your photography experience is more than just beginner and you want to achieve very high image quality (IQ), you are probably better saving up and looking at lenses that are more 'pro' level, often you would want 2-3 lenses to cover this zoom range.

Can you get superb photos with a superzoom, sure you can, but you might find the lens quality limiting over time, as your photography progresses. There is a good reason Pro level lenses cost more, the quality of parts, science behind their construction etc is designed to give you the very best results.
