Barney the Baby Butcherbird appeared in the garden with lots of this extended family around late November last year.
This Barney was a bit of a lark and much time was enjoyed watching the antics of this little baby bird.
One afternoon the entire family were up on the Telephone Cable then they all flew away and poor Barney was left alone.
I had just received my new 300mm Lens so thought I would give it a go and see if I could get any good bird pics.
Not really as Barney was always on the move and I had to hand hold the jolly lens which was too heavy after a while.
I managed to get a few so I hope you enjoy my not the best first some oof pics with this new Lens..:D

I named it Mum Look At Me

Mum left me here to learn the ropes, so why did she leave me on a cable.

Of course Baby Barney is flying around everywhere now though I wonder if it is a terrifying experience first time out of the nest for these chicks.

I agree, great depth of field to really make the bird stand out and your story to go with each image really adds to the photos.

Hopefully you get many more opportunities to photograph this little guy.

W.K. Thank You for your delightful comment..

Graeme Thanks Also.. They are permanent we have had then for about 4-5 years now
Every Spring 3-4 or 5 new chicks appear how lucky is that..:th3:
They become our friends and sometimes we even lose them due to human stupidity.

What a terrific series Mary Anne and delightful captions too! I reckon my favourite is the one entitled, 'Mum will be so pleased with me.'
