What lens do you lust after the most

Assume that you almost have enough money (whatever that amount is) for it....but not quite. And you'd be damned guilty getting it. But you just NEED it so bad.

Strangely mine is a 28 1.4 AF-D

I've got lens lust for the 16-35 2.8 L at the moment.

I know I'm going to go FF and this lens would just be awsone since I use my wide a lot, having those couple of extra stops would be unreal! Will I actually get it? Probably not, damn money!

hmmm... It's a toss up between Canon EF 100mm 2.8 macro... OR Canon EF-s 10-22

Mine changes a bit...

At the moment I'm craving some extra length after having shot a panorama with multiple 200mm images of a windfarm from a large distance. As getting physically closer to the windfarm requires permission from unknown landowners (and a 4WD) more mm was what i was craving!

My lens lust list:

28 f1.4
200 f2
200-400
big boy prime (ie. 400/500/600)

hmmmmmmmm

500 f4L IS - But would settle for a 100-400 L IS USM which would probably be more practical for me

Ideally the Canon EF 800mm f/5.6 IS USM, but at > $15k I'm unlikely to see one anytime soon.

But in the terms of the original question: Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L (tilt-shift), almost got that one for Christmas but opted for the 85L instead.

Well, I wouldn't mind either the Olympus 14-35mm f/2 zoom or the 35-100mm f/2 zoom. Either would be nice and both twice as nice. I think there should be a place in most people's kit bags for a f/2.0 zoom.

So next down the list is the HC 3.5-4.5/50-110MM (http://www.hasselblad.com.au/hb/index.cfm?pageID=12&subPrdGroup=8&modelID=12&CFID=2427409&CFTOKEN=64059158) at a mere $6,935.00 - and that's its price on special! It will be a long time lusted after, I can tell you.

What lens do you lust after the most

I'm not in the market for any more lenses, and I'm certainly happy with the seven I have; but there are some lenses that are firmly in the "this would be nice" category.

In order of focal length:

Canon EF 200mm f/2L IS USM
Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM
Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS USM

The discontinued Canon EF 200mm f/1.8L USM is indeed lust-worthy, but hard to get, very expensive, and no longer serviced by Canon.

Do I need any of these lenses? No.

Do I want them? You bet.

Ive only kept the 24-70, 70-200 and 85.

The only other lens i could lust for would be the 200 f2, but that'll never happen :) (unless of course i win the lotto)

These days, its more like post production lust... or studio lighting lust....

LOL! at the price it commands!.. it's over rated(but there's nothing else in Nikon land like it)

Mine are:(in order of preference I 'spose)

58/1.2
300mm/2
1200-1700mm/5.6-f/8 :p
6mm/2.8(I may need a satellite dish template one day! :D)
16mm f/3.5 fisheye(reality check!)
200-400/4(I wouldn't use it much, but a better replacement for the 500mm mirror for sure ;))
2000mm f/11(because I got this far, and I have all the money in the world!.. so why not?)
PC-E 24mm f/3.5(plus 85mm f/2.8 version)

I suppose I could use an:
14-24mm/2.8, or
70-200VR(I now realise that I need VR ), or
85/1.4
... for 'everyday' type shooting purposes? :confused013

Maybe by the time I can throw together $7k it will be f2.8 :p

This now makes me think why would I go the $7k for this lens when I have the 80-400 as I'm only saving a stop at 400mm. Mind you I will still go the 70-200 f2.8 to cover most of the range.

Ah well - need the 70-200 VRII first though. Having only just received the 24-70 the day before yesterday, the funds are a little depleted. Just as well I don't have to buy and develp film for test runs any more.

I have a Pentax K10D &:-
10-20 Sigma - Takes care of wide angle. I use it a lot. landscapes architecture work 'photo's
18-55 Pentax kit. Camera cover, general shooting.
Pentax M28/2.8. Wherever the field of view is applicable, this one comes out. Everytime.
Pentax Super Tak 50mm f1.4. If I want a good shot at this focal length & I've the time to get it on;it's on.
Pentax Super Tak 135mm f3.5. Same as the above
Tamron Adaptall 2 80-210 f3.8 103A - f4. Principal tele zoom.
Tamron Adaptall 2 70 - 210 f3.5 constant. Regarded as the best of its type & described by another on a manual focus forum, "thinks it's a prime." Tripod only (heavy), planned trips.
Soligur telephoto 400/6.3. Only used to show that it's not a bad lens. Cheap. Stays at home
Tamron Mirror 500mm 55BB f8. Great to use if you're really scared of something you want to photograph. Small & light (still need tripod). Rarely used though but did so this weekend. yet to check out.

So, to answer the question, I think I've reached Lens Nirvana.

I wish you all luck in your quest.:):p

Being an "old" Nikon tragic, my lust is the illusive 55mm 1.2 Noct S.C. Nikkor that occasionally comes up on ebay commanding $3,000+ USD!

Be sure to get the 58mm version which is the Noct.

The 55mm version is more common, and far cheaper and nowhere near as good and not designated as a Noct.

The 50mm version is not a bad lens, but I think beaten by the current crop of 50mm f/1.4's.
It's still currently in production, so can be had new, and it's also not designated the Noct name, despite the same fast aperture.

The 58mm Noct is a legend of a lens, and the comparative shots I've seen, against the 50/1.2 seem to indicate that it's almost certainly worth the extra money(if you're pedantic).
But certainly not the US$3K they regularly go for.
